The fourth phase in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going strong with four feature-length entries and five series released so far. But the fun is only just starting because we have Moon Knight, launching on Disney+ at the end of March, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releasing in theatres in May.
And Marvel isn’t slowing down because filming is well underway for another one of Marvel’s upcoming projects!
The massively popular Secret Invasion event is getting the Disney+ treatment with Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, and Cobie Smulders returning for the six-episode limited series.
For those who don’t know, Secret Invasion will be an adaptation of the fan-favourite storyline in which shape-shifting Skrulls have secretly replaced many Marvel superheroes in preparation for an invasion of Earth.
A whole load of pictures were released by multiple people via Twitter today as numerous cast members were spotted on location in Leeds, England.
Cobie Smulders and Emilia Clarke were among the first actors to be spotted as they took a very brief break between scenes.
Former Game of Thrones and Solo star Emilia Clarke was filming a few crowd scenes today. Judging by the face masks that two extras are wearing, it looks like we might expect references to the ongoing pandemic.
Killian Scott (fourth image above) was also spotted filing alongside Clarke. And if you check out the three images below, you’ll be able to see the big man himself, Samuel L. Jackson!
Jackson has been absent from the MCU since his last appearance in 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, so it’s good to see him back in his Nick Fury costume, rocking a new beard to go with it. Also, if you click the images, you’ll be able to see that he’s standing alongside his Captain Marvel co-star, Ben Mendelsohn, who will be returning as Fury’s Skrull ally, Talos.
Marvel’s Secret Invasion currently doesn’t have a release date set, but we can probably expect it to land on Disney+ in the first half of 2023.
