With Marvel’s Moon Knight debuting on Disney+ in a little over a month, there is still surprisingly little we know about the series. In fact, it wasn’t until earlier this week we learned of Academy Award-winner F. Murray Abraham’s involvement.

Now, thanks to a Empire’s latest issue, we finally know who actress May Calamawy will be playing. Shoutout to Twitter user @XKateBishopX for sharing screenshots of the issue online too.

In photo on the bottom right tweeted below, you’ll notice a description box listing Calamawy as a character by the name of Layla El-Faouly.

Currently, there is no comic book counterpart for Layla, so it seems as if she may be a brand new character created for show. Prior to the show’s first trailer, which also teased the character, it was speculated that Calamawy was playing the love interest of Spector/Moon Knight from the comics named Marlene.

Whether that is still the case, and her name has just been changed remains to be seen.

Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, Moon Knight will follow the adventures of a former U.S Marine with dissociative identity disorder (DID) name Marc Spector who becomes the avatar for the ancient Egyptian moon god Khonshu and a crime fighting mercenary after discovering his statue.

The Umbrella Academy‘s Jeremy Slater is both the series’ showrunner and lead writer, while Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Synchronic), and potentially even George Clooney will all divvy up directing duties on its six episodes.

As Marvel just announced, Moon Knight will premiere on Disney+ on March 30th, as a part of the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
