Star Wars Data Pad: Focus Shifts to Kenobi
Star Wars Notebook: Feb. 27, 2022
With The Book of Boba Fett in the Rearview — and the in-person influencer previews of the “Star Wars Hotel” posted — Obi-Wan Kenobi takes center stage in terms of anticipation.
That’s especially since the teaser trailer hit earlier this year:

However, the Obi-Wan phenomenon will transcend the bounds of the small screen, with a new YA book.
On February 25, StarWars.com’s Dan Brooks posted about Kiersten White’s Star Wars: Padawan.
[The upcoming book] follows the legendary hero when he was still very much a student, insecure about who he is and the Jedi he might become. Obi-Wan grows antsy under his master — Qui-Gon Jinn, who preaches patience and mediation — and yearns for some Jedi action. But when it looks like they’ll finally head out on a mission together, Jinn is a no-show; Obi-Wan goes off on his own instead, visiting a new world where he encounters free-spirited teens, possibly strong with the Force, who offer him a glimpse at a life that could have been.
The book arrives on July 26 and given White’s thoughts on the franchise, we could be in for a treat.

“I owe so much of who I am as a person and a storyteller to Star Wars, and I hope I brought that affection and respect to Padawan,” said White. “I sometimes joke that my only controversial Star Wars opinion is that I love it all, but it’s true. I feel tremendously lucky to be a small part of this galaxy of incredible storytelling.”
What’s In a Poster?
Last week on the Data Pad we posted about the new Obi-Wan Kenobi teaser poster. However, after spending a week staring at the thing, folks are finding things:

The Direct sees Anakin (Luke, Rey) Skywalker’s lightsaber.
“In the poster, a lightsaber can be seen in Obi Wan’s right hand,” wrote Nathan Johnson. “As fans have noticed on Twitter, when zoomed in at a high resolution, it appears to be the lightsaber of none other than the one that belonged to Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith.
“It is not confirmed that the lightsaber is definitely Anakin’s, but due to the shape of the hilt, it appears to be the blade that Obi-Wan will eventually pass down to Luke.”
Maybe. Makes sense. Time will tell.
Now, there was another, not so straightforward theory, and I am NOT the person who put it out there (but for the life of me I can’t find the progenitor).
However, after perusing the poster all week I am starting to see something in the sand.

Anyway, after waiting for Ewan McGreggor’s return for a long, long time, maybe I am seeing Force ghosts.

Finally, and as a bonus, check out my buddy Mike’s breakdown of his experience in the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. I am so glad he got to take the trip.
Curious. If you had the means or the chance, would you like to try the Galactic Starcruiser?
