The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, or “The Star Wars Hotel”, as many have nicknamed it, is now officially open. Offering a two-night simulated excursion into space, the Halycron ship contains a mixture of events that put guests right into the heart of their own Star Wars adventure.

Reviews have been mixed, but they are leaning to the more positive side, with many praising the onboard story events and character interactions, including those with legacy characters like Chewbacca and Rey, as well as new characters such as Captain Keevan, Gaya, and new fan-favourite, Ouannii.

Notable detractors have included complaints of the short stay aboard the hotel, the entertainment offerings which social media users have lambasted, and the fact that much of what is included was promised for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which is now behind a paywall. And that paywall is the most prominent complaint by far.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will set you back a hefty amount no matter what room you plan to book, with the cheapest option costing $4,809 for two guests and the most expensive suite costing a whopping $10,000. And it should be mentioned that these prices fluctuate depending on when you plan to visit.

Despite the somewhat positive reactions from those who have been lucky to experience the hotel, social media has been ruthless, and it may be the direct cause of continued cancellations. WDWNT has been keeping a keen eye on the bookings, and they have noticed that more and more dates are becoming available for the upcoming months.

This isn’t the first instance of cancellation waves. How could we forget the now infamous commercial so heavily criticised by fans and critics that it caused Disney to delete the video from all of their social media accounts and YouTube!
It’s still early days yet, and the hotel has only held a handful of “excursions” so opinions may change as time goes on.
The Galactic Starcruiser is exclusive to Walt Disney World Resort and is located near Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where it serves as the hotel to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
