‘Reservation Dogs’ Star Devery Jacobs Joins Marvel Studios’ ‘Echo’

Reservation Dogs breakout star Devery Jacobs has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye spin-off, Echo, Deadline has learned.

Hot off Hawkeye, Alaqua Cox reprises her role of Maya Lopez aka Echo. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the series is expected to pick up where Hawkeye left off. Charlie Cox will return as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil. Cox is expected to begin filming his scenes next month. Vincent D’Onofrio is also expected to return as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. Details on Devery Jacobs’ character are sketchy, but she is believed to be playing one of the leads, referred to as Julie, who is resilient and strong-willed.

Ken Kristensen and Dara Resnik, who both worked on Netflix Marvel projects, have joined Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen as writers on Echo. Ken Kristensen wrote three episodes of The Punisher, and Dara Resnik wrote two episodes of Daredevil. The Cohen’s will also produce.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the character, Maya Lopez, aka Echo, is a deaf Native American (like Alaqua Cox who plays her) character who can exactly replicate the movements of another person in battle. She first appeared alongside Daredevil in a comic strip from 1999. As of now, there is no confirmed Disney+ premiere date for Echo, but production on the series is already underway.
