A lot of exciting news was announced during the Marvel Animation panel at SDCC 2022. We got news on Spider-Man: Freshman Year, Marvel Zombies, X-Men ’97, and the first episode of the second season of What If…? was given a surprise premiere.

What If…? debuted on Disney+ in 2021 as the first animated series from Marvel Studios. Each week, audiences are invited to step into a different part of the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse, where characters we all know and love are placed in “what-if” scenarios.
The first season saw T’Challa, Gamora, N’Jadaka, Thor, Black Widow, and Captain Carter (in her on-screen debut) form the Guardians of the Multiverse. But season two will feature a different set of characters forming a new version of The Avengers. Captain Carter, Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, and Wasp will make up the variant version of the team. It was also confirmed that Bigfoot exists in Captain Carter’s universe.

It was also confirmed that the Captain Carter seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is NOT the same person as the one from What If…?
The second season of What If…? will launch on Disney+ in early 2023. A third season has also been confirmed.
