Marvel Announces New Scarlet Witch Comic Book Series

Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch may be currently M.I.A in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it looks like fans of the character will have something to satisfy the spellbinding void she’s left behind very soon.

Wednesday morning, a brand new Scarlet Witch solo comic book series was announced by Marvel.

Written by Steve Orlando and drawn by Sara Pichelli, the series is expected to quote “open open the door to a new era of adventures, mysteries, and quests.”

Set after the events of last year’s X-Men: Trial of Magneto, which literally saw the titular mutant accused of killing his daughter Wanda, the series will follow Wanda’s rebirth and transformation into the hero she was always destined to be. She’ll reportedly find her new desire to do good challenged when she meets a mysterious woman approaches her asking for help.

In a press release, Orlando described his excitement for the upcoming series. He said, “Wanda Maximoff has finally broken free of the shadows she’s wrestled with for years. And now? Sara Pichelli and I are unveiling the next chapter of her powerful, improbable, magical life. When you have nowhere else to turn…you turn to the Scarlet Witch. And God help anyone who gets in her way.”

Pichelli, who acknowledged how long it’s been since fans last got a solo Scarlet Witch story, emphasized that the new series will be worth the wait.

The series hits comic book stands this January!
