After a heated bidding war between multiple studios and streamers, Disney’s 20th Century Studios has won the rights to the graphic novel Night of the Ghoul, Deadline has learned.
The project reteams the studio with director Rob Savage, and 21 Laps Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Dan Cohen who are producing. They were the creative team behind The Boogeyman, set to release next year. The movie will be based on the upcoming graphic novel by Eisner & Harvey-winning author Scott Snyder and illustrator Francesco Francavilla.
The story follows a father and son looking into the true story behind a long-lost horror film from the golden era of monster movies. But as they dig deeper, they risk unleashing the very thing the supposedly destroyed film had meant to keep hidden.
The first issue of Night of the Ghoul will debut in print from Dark Horse Comics tomorrow, October 5, 2022.
