Eva Longoria and George Lopez have signed on to star in the upcoming Disney+ remake of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The project will be directed by Marvin Lemus, the creator, and showrunner of the Netflix series Genetied. Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps production banner will produce alongside The Jim Henson Company.
Though Disney already adapted this story in 2014 with Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner, this version will be a new take, which follows a Mexican American family who have recently lost their connection to each other and their roots, as they embark on an epic road trip that immediately goes hilariously wrong.
Longoria will play Alexander’s mother, a travel writer who has lost her passion for work, while Lopez has been cast as the family’s grandfather, a tough biker.
Matt Lopez, who wrote the recent HBO Max Father of the Bride reboot and Disney features Bedtime Stories, Race to Witch Mountain, and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, wrote the script.
