Ryan Reynolds and ‘Strange World’ Director Qui Nguyen to Team up on ‘Society of Explorers and Adventurers’
Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds and Strange World director Qui Nguyen are teaming up to adapt Society of Explorers and Adventurers.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nguyen will write the project, which is said to be a live-action project. Reynolds will produce through his Maximum Effort production banner. The intention is to launch a franchise with the project.
Nguyen’s take for the feature pursues alternative angles to SEA mythology in present day by adding a new supernatural element to the history and following new characters not present in the original SEA lore.
This project will be separate from Ron Moore’s (For All Mankind) Disney+ series, which is in development, His series is set in the Magic Kingdom Universe, where the themed lands and characters of Disney’s parks and classic films exist in another reality.
Disney parks aficionados will recognize this as the name of the fictional organization that exists within several attractions who mission is “to collect, conserve, and curate valuable cultural and artistic artifacts from around the world and make them available to the public in an artistically pleasing and sensitive manner”. Portraits of several of the members can be seen in various attractions including Tower of Terror, Mystic Manor, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Walt Disney World.
