From one hit Disney-owned show to another! Former Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams has joined the third season of Hulu’s hit series Only Murders in the Building, Deadline has learned.
Williams joins the cast in a recurring role. He joins stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, and Paul Rudd, who made his debut in the series second season finale.
In the finale on the opening night of a Broadway play Oliver (Short) directed, the lead actor, Ben Glenroy (Rudd), suddenly dies during his performance. You could tell in a scene before his his death that Charles (Martin) and Ben had some past anomosity, leading everyone to believe that Charles is prime suspect number one. Williams will play a documentarian with a particular interest in the case that Selena Gomez’s Mabel Mora, Steve Martin’s Charles Haden-Savage and Martin Short’s Oliver Putnam are working on.
Disney’s 20th Television produces Only Murders in the Building. Martin and John Hoffman co-created the series and executive produce with Short, Gomez, Jamie Babbitt, This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman (who has a rich overall deal at 20th), and Jess Rosenthal.
Only Murders in the Building season one set a record for the most-watched comedy premiere in Hulu history. That trend continued with season two. The third season will debut on Hulu in 2023.
