It’s been less than 24 hours since the first major news about 20th Century’s next Alien film broke. And fans of the long-running franchise should expect more news in the coming weeks as, according to one industry insider, production is ramping up rather quickly.
According to Daniel RPK, the studio is aiming to start shooting this upcoming February. That’s not all.
In his latest Patreon post, the scooper added that he’s heard this next installment will be a standalone film. However, it will essentially follow the same formula as every other Alien film: a group crash lands on an Alien planet, and find themselves being hunted by Xenomorphs.

He also mentioned that the film is being produced specifically for Hulu just like the recently successful Predator prequel Prey.
Lastly, RPK reported that the film currently has a working title of Alien: Romulus. However, he warns that this may not be the film’s final title. Given how inconsistent some of the titles have been in the past, he may be right.
Now, as always, because this information has yet to be confirmed by Disney or any of the major trades we urge you to take it with a grain of salt.
Regardless, the fact that another Alien film is finally in the works is exciting news enough. We’ll just have to wait and see and see what happens.
