New Details Revealed About The Next Batch Of ‘Futurama’ Episodes Coming Out Next Year
Last year, Hulu announced its intention to reboot the hit animated comedy series Futurama yet again. This culminated in ten brand new hitting the streamer earlier this year. While it’s unclear just how far Hulu plans to take the series this time around, at the very least fans can expect ten more episodes to debut next year.
At this year’s New York Comic-Con, our Editor-in-Chief Dempsey Pillot got the chance to attend an exclusive panel with a sneak peek at what’s to come.
Here is everything we know so far:
MORE CAMEOS

Futurama is no stranger to celebrities. Over the course of its decade-spanning run, it has featured the voices of Al Gore, Stephen Hawking, Buzz Aldrin, and (most recently) Emilia Clarke. At the NYCC panel, it was revealed that next season there would be a massive name appearing as a “head in a jar.”
Now, if you’re a fan of the show, you know that scientists or politicians usually get that honor. Considering how wide of an appeal the show has and how wide of a net it’s cast on pop culture throughout the years, we truly have no idea who the team was teasing.
At the panel it was also confirmed that Neil deGrasse Tyson would also be appearing next season, but it was not immediately clear who he would be playing.
Additionally, a new love interest was teased for Bender. Showrunner/Writer David X. Cohen also said it would be played by a “surprise guest star.” No name given. There’s no indication if she will be a robot either.
MORE ABOUT BENDER’S BACKGROUND

Speaker of Bender, it was also revealed that Bender would be heading back to his home country of Mexico. After all, his last name is Rodriguez…
That is where he will reportedly meet up with his new, mysterious love interest. There, we’ll also get to know a little more about Bender’s background.
In a montage shown at the end of the panel, fans were treated to a clip of him participating in a futuristic running of the bulls too. It appears that with Fry and Leela officially an item, Bender is desperate to find a love of his own. Zoidberg can only fill so much of the void.
MORE SHENANIGANS

That same montage revealed a re-enactment of one of Fry’s birthday parties. As bizarre as it sounds, whatever it’s supposed to be turns deadly.
The context is completely unclear, but from the clip that the audience was shown, he winds up hanging over a tub of acid with almost every other major character from the show.
On top of teasing more random adventures, one last thing that Cohen revealed at the panel was that he always writes each season finale as a series finale. So whether the next ten episodes are officially, the show’s last or not, fans can expect some proper closure.
As of now, Hulu has not committed to ordering any more episodes. And it’s unclear when the next batch will debut exactly. Be sure to follow The DisInsider for all the latest updates as they become available!
