A Crew Member Died On Set During Pre-Production Of Marvel’s ‘Wonder Man’

Early Tuesday morning, a crew member working on Marvel’s Wonder Man died after an accident on the set.

Multiple outlets report that the crew member was rigger and died after falling off rafters at Ratford Studio Center.

The show, which is scheduled to begin shooting next month, was in pre-production at the time of the accident. All production has been halted.

In a statement, a Marvel spokesperson said that the studio’s “thoughts and deepest condolences” are with the member’s family and friends. They also said that they support into an “investigation into the circumstances of this accident.”

Created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew, Wonder Man will star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams / Wonder Man, alongside Ben Kingsley, who returns as Trevor Slattery, Demetrius Grosse, Lauren Glazier, and Ed Harris. There are also rumors that Josh Gad has joined the cast.

Filming on the series began last April and was expected to conclude in August. Filming was taking place around Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles on May 4, 2023, when picketers participating in the 2023 WGA strike attempted to shut down production; however, filming for the series was still continuing during the strike at that time and was not expected to be impacted by the strike.

It was reported that Marvel Studios was planning to shoot what they could during principal photography and make any necessary writing adjustments during the series’ already scheduled reshoots. But picketers stopped production when it returned to film at Radford Studio Center last May too. With the strikes over, all these months later, filming is confirmed to restart next month.
