Amid Marvel going from dropping countless movie and series titles in a year to now releasing only one MCU film in 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine, it’s evident that The Walt Disney Company is resetting its goals for Marvel Studios.

Now, with the future of Marvel changing for the better after the box office shake-up of The Marvels (2023) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), a recent publication by The Hollywood Reporter shares that Marvel is “not going to give up. They want to make something great.”

In short, quality over quantity is the new mantra around Marvel. The Hollywood Reporter writes:

Execs are not calling it a reboot, not even a soft one, but more of a creative retooling.

Marvel Studios’ Renaissance Era

With Tom Holland rumored to return in a street-level Spider-Man 4 and Charlie Cox officially returning as Hell’s Kitchen’s Matt Murdock alongside Vincent D’Onofrio in Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+ in 2025, Marvel is taking a new approach to how they create, release, and support their projects.

In a company earnings call on February 7th, Disney CEO & Chairman Bob Iger shared, “Some of our studios lost a little focus. So the first step that we’ve taken is that we’ve reduced volume. “We’ve reduced output, particularly at Marvel [to ensure] the films you’re making can be even better.”
