Disney Fires Back at Nelson Putz With Some Facts

Earlier today, it came out that Nelson Putz… I mean Peltz, had some choice words for how Disney makes their movies, specifically Marvel. Well, The Walt Disney Company quickly fired back with some facts.

To give a little background, Peltz, who is in a proxy fight with Disney, took aim at what he calls the company’s “woke” film strategy, particularly as it pertains to Black Panther and The Marvels, saying “Why do I have to have a Marvel that’s all women? Not that I have anything against women, but why do I have to do that? Why can’t I have Marvels that are both? Why do I need an all-Black cast?”

Disney decided to fire back with some facts. First being that Captain Marvel and The Marvels have grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide. Additionally, Black Panther and Wakanda Forever have combined for $2.2 billion worldwide. These statistics prove the company/studio made decisions to better the company both financially and critically. Both franchises have spawned multiple spinoffs, with more in the works.

The company also highlighted that Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige is the most successful producer of all-time as the ongoing MCU has grossed over $30 billion worldwide.

The ongoing proxy fight has both sides campaigning and receiving shows of support in the lead-up to the April 3 board meeting, with Iger and his board of directors receiving support from former CEO Michael Eisner, Star Wars creator George Lucas, Laurene Powell Jobs, and the grandchildren of Walt Disney and Roy Disney.
