Walt Disney Studios has had a rough time since it opened in March 2002 but since Disney bought Disneyland Paris in 2017, it has been steadily bringing the park up to Disney standards.

The majority of Disney’s attention to their sole European resort has been spent on Walt Disney Studios park, often labelled the worst Disney theme park in the world. It boasted only 3 attractions on opening day and is now home to 14 including The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Ratatouille: The Adventure.

The park has also opened its first major addition in years with Avengers Campus, as part of its multi-year expansion originally announced in 2018. This will be followed up by the Kingdom of Arendelle, set to open sometime in 2025.

Much like Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, Walt Disney Studios is less about showing guests how movies are made and more about putting guests into their favourite Disney movies. We can see this with Disney’s recent uptick of fully immersive lands like Avengers Campus and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

With the studio aspect of the park becoming more and more redundant the more Disney changes it, many have been speculating whether the park’s name will also change to reflect its new look.

A name change may now be on the cards according to a new rumour and we may not have to wait long to find out what it is.

April 12 will be the resort’s 32nd Anniversary and a private event has been scheduled in one of the Walt Disney Studios theatres for a presentation on some of the resort’s upcoming additions. According to OutsideEars, the new name for Walt Disney Studios will be announced during this presentation.

As to what the name will be, we don’t know, but Disney’s CineMagique Park was suggested by several people on Twitter and that is a fitting name as it not only reflects the new theme of the park but also pays homage to the beloved (and now closed) CineMagique show starring Martin Short and Julie Delpy.

Also rumoured to be announced is the revitalisation of the Studio 1 area and more details on the ‘Tangled’ spinner ride and Alice and the Queen of Hearts: Return to Wonderland. All of which were originally scooped by OutsideEars. Their new article also revealed that the rumoured Lion King-land, supposedly replacing Star Wars in the 2018 WDS Expansion Project, will not be announced until D23 in August.
