Bruce Springsteen Concert Documentary Coming to Disney+, Hulu

Hulu and Disney+ have jointly announced the upcoming release of “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band” slated for October of this year, with a specific launch date to be revealed soon.

This documentary promises an unparalleled glimpse into the genesis of the iconic live performances by Springsteen and The E Street Band, offering unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to their extensive 2023-2024 global tour.

“Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band” unveils a fresh perspective on Springsteen’s creative process, inviting fans worldwide to witness candid footage of band rehearsals and intimate moments backstage, accompanied by insights from Springsteen himself.

The narrative closely follows Springsteen’s journey as he crafts the narrative for the tour’s setlist, interwoven with rare archival footage of The E Street Band, exploring themes of life, loss, mortality, and community. This documentary emerges as an indispensable and previously unseen installment in the autobiographical continuum that includes Springsteen’s memoir “Born to Run,” “Springsteen on Broadway,” and cinematic works like “Western Stars” and “Letter to You.”

The direction of the film was helmed by Thom Zimny, a longstanding collaborator of Springsteen and a recipient of both Emmy® and GRAMMY® Awards for his work on projects such as “Western Stars,” “The Gift: The Journey of Johnny Cash,” “Springsteen on Broadway,” “Willie Nelson & Family,” and “Sly.” Zimny, along with a team comprising Jon Landau, Bruce Springsteen, Adrienne Gerard, and Sean Stuart, took on the production duties.

The film commences with an exclusive glimpse into the band’s meticulous preparation process, tracing their journey from initial rehearsals in Red Bank, New Jersey, to commanding performances before audiences numbering in the tens of thousands across various continents. For the first time ever, fans are treated to professionally captured footage from the 2023-2024 tour, accompanied by insightful commentary from band members, offering unique perspectives on performing alongside Springsteen and maintaining the enduring allure of The E Street Band.

In April, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band concluded the initial leg of their 2024 world tour with a cross-country run across the United States. This leg was marked by surprise guest appearances, electrifying three-hour performances, and rare additions to the setlist, totaling 60 different songs across 11 shows. Presently, the band is amidst a series of 25 shows across Europe this spring and summer, following last year’s European tour, which saw ticket sales of 1.6 million. Subsequently, they will embark on another leg of North American dates spanning from August through late November.
