Just days after announcing that Nicolas Cage would be leading his own live-action Spider-Verse series at Amazon, it’s been revealed that the company’s previously planned series, Silk: Spider Society, has been canceled.
Per multiple reports, the show that has been in development for half a decade – and just greenlit two years ago – is no longer moving forward. Per Deadline, the decision was made literally just a few days ago.
Angela Kang, who was tapped to bring the series to the small screen still retains her overall deal at Amazon, but she will now move on to other projects.
Amazon’s plan to adapt several Spider-Verse characters in live-action shows still remains in place, but it appears that it is sticking to a more focused approach.
Now, rights to the character Silk will revert back to lead studio Sony Pictures Television, and the company will attempt to shop it around to other potential buyers.

Silk is a Korean American superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Silk is the alias of Cindy Moon, who first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #1 (April 2014) and was created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos. She was a member of the Spider-Army / Web-Warriors and Agents of Atlas.
The series will one of the first to feature a Korean-American superhero at its center. Lord and Miller have an overall deal with Sony and will oversee future Spider-Man-centered projects with Sony, Marvel, Amazon, and MGM+.
