20th century Studios is continuing to develop exciting film content for the Walt Disney Company. the studio already has a franchise in its hands with the Alien, Predator, and Planet of the Apes. now the studio hopes to kick off a new franchise from an classic film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, 20th century Studios is developing a remake of the sci-fi cult classic Enemy Mine. Terry Matalas, the showrunner who steered the final season of Star Trek: Picard to critical success, has been tapped to pen the script.
No producer or director is currently on board the project as of yet.
The original directed by Wolfgang Petersen, starred Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett Jr. as a human and alien soldier, respectively, who become stranded together on an inhospitable planet and must overcome their mutual distrust in order to cooperate and survive.
Matalas best known for co-creating and showrunning 12 Monkeys (2015–2018), which ran for four seasons on SyFy. He was a showrunner on the fourth season of MacGyverfor CBS (2020). He is also working on the untitled Vision series for Marvel Studios.
