Pixar Animation Studios‘ Inside Out 2 is continuing its box office dominance. The sequel grossed $22.2 million on Monday, the second highest Monday ever for a Pixar movie after 2018’s Incredibles 2, which grossed $23.6 million in 2018.
Inside Out 2 has grossed a worldwide total of $333.8 million and is already the fifth highest-grossing movie of the year right behind Disney’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which is currently in theaters and is sitting at $375.2 million worldwide. Additionally, the film has already outgrossed Pixar’s Lightyear and The Good Dinosaur and by next weekend is expected to pass A Bug’s Life, Toy Story, and Cars 3.
The film is expected to remain number 1 at the box office next week with its only new competition The Bikeriders, which was originally a Disney project, comes out. Inside Out 2 should have a few more weeks of nice legs until Despicable Me 4 debuts on July 3.
Directed by Kelsey Mann (in his feature directorial debut) and produced by Mark Nielsen, from a screenplay written by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein, and a story conceived by Mann and LeFauve.
