Because Disney’s biggest entertainment showcase took place on a Friday evening, it was only fitting that we got news on the highly anticipated Freaky Friday sequel.
But in addition to a new title and some additional stills, some more news has come out about the film too. More specifically, we now know who Manny Jacinto is playing.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Academy Award winner Jamie Lee Curtis revealed that the Acolyte star would be playing Lindsay Lohan’s husband.
It’s unclear if Jacinto will be her current husband or ex-husband, as the official plot synopsis alludes to Lohan’s character preparing to become a stepmother.
The official synopsis is as follows:
“A sequel to the beloved 2003 film with a multigenerational twist, the film picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.”
In addition to Jacinto, the sequel, currently in production, also promises to bring back many familiar faces from the original film, including Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao.
Julia Butters, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons co-star.
