Two months ago, when Marvel unveiled the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, one name was notably absent: Ryan Reynolds. Despite starring in the MCU’s biggest Multiverse movie to date – and the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time – it appeared as if he would not be coming returning to star as Deadpool.
But according to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds is far from done with playing the “merc with the mouth.” The outlet reports that Reynolds he is developing another film about the character. However, this time, he doesn’t intend to be the lead.
Reynolds is reportedly exploring ideas for another Deadpool outing that would also feature members of the Marvel’s other major team, the X-Men.
While it’s unclear who exactly Reynolds would like to join Deadpool on his next adventure, he tells the outlet he’s looking to bring onboard three or four mutant characters. His character would only act as support in the film.
Now, this is a totally different X-Men film in the works than Michael Lesslie’s current project. And it’s too early to tell if it will relate to the returning X-Men characters set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, including Channing Tatum. Reynolds made the actor’s dream of playing Gambit come true when he opened the doors for him to play him in Deadpool & Wolverine.
