Disney Jr. is expanding its lineup with a slate of new shows and specials designed to bring some of its most popular franchises to an even younger audience.
Leading the charge is Cars: Lightning Racers, a fresh animated series from Disney Television Animation in partnership with Pixar. Set to launch on Disney Jr. in 2027 before arriving on Disney+, the show will spotlight Lightning McQueen and friends on high-speed adventures through Radiator Springs. Several original voice actors from the three Cars films, including Owen Wilson, are reprising their roles. The Cars franchise has already generated over US$1.4 billion at the global box office, fueling spin-offs, games, merchandise, and theme park attractions.
Disney Jr. is also building on the success of its Marvel and Mickey Mouse titles. Nielsen reports that in early 2025, Bluey, Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse were the top three streaming shows among young children.
Capitalizing on that momentum, the network has ordered Marvel’s Avengers: Mightiest Friends for 2027. Produced by Disney Jr., Marvel Studios, and Atomic Cartoons, the preschool-friendly series will feature kid-appeal versions of heroes like Hulk, Black Panther, and Captain America—characters previously seen in Spidey and His Amazing Friends and the upcoming Marvel’s Iron Man and His Awesome Friends, debuting August 11.
Two specials are also on the way: Marvel’s Spidey and Iron Man: Avengers Team Up!, premiering October 16, and another set for 2026. Both are produced by Disney Jr., Marvel Studios, and Atomic Cartoons.
Mickey and Minnie will return in stop-motion sing-along shorts, Mickey & Minnie’s Holiday Songs: Halloween and Christmas, created with Stoopid Buddy Stoodios.
Additionally, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+ has been renewed for a second season in 2027 and a third in 2028. The rebooted series debuted as the most-watched streaming show for ages two to five during its premiere week in July, according to Nielsen.
