‘Moana’ Global Press Tour Brings Disney Magic to Brazil and Miami

The global press tour for Disney’s live-action Moana continues to make waves, with the film’s stars bringing the highly anticipated adventure to fans in both Brazil and Miami.

Dwayne Johnson, who returns as the larger-than-life demigod Maui, recently made his way to Rio de Janeiro for an energetic fan event. Johnson was greeted by excited fans during an exclusive Moana blue carpet event at Ilha Fiscal. Earlier in the day, the actor and producer took part in a photo shoot and press opportunities with Rio’s iconic Sugarloaf Mountain serving as the backdrop.

The Brazil appearance follows previous stops on the film’s global press tour, including Hawaii, Shanghai, Sydney, and London.

Meanwhile, the celebration continued in Miami as producer and songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda joined breakout star Catherine Laga‘aia, who takes on the role of Moana in the live-action reimagining. The pair participated in a stunning oceanfront photo call at Miami Beach before sitting down for a series of in-studio interviews.

Miranda, who helped create the music for the original animated film, returns alongside Opetaia Foa‘i and Mark Mancina to provide original songs for the new movie. Miranda also wrote the all-new song “Along the Way,” performed by Laga‘aia, Johnson, and Auli‘i Cravalho.

Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the original Walt Disney Animation Studios films, serves as an executive producer on the live-action reimagining, helping connect the new adaptation with the legacy of the beloved animated franchise.

Directed by Emmy and Tony Award winner Thomas Kail, Moana follows the courageous young wayfinder as she answers the Ocean’s call and ventures beyond the reef of her island of Motunui for the first time. Joined by the infamous demigod Maui, Moana embarks on a journey filled with danger, discovery, and a mission to bring prosperity back to her people.

The film also stars John Tui as Moana’s father, Chief Tui; Frankie Adams as her mother, Sina; and Rena Owen as Gramma Tala.

Disney’s live-action Moana sails exclusively into theaters on July 10, 2026.
