There is a lot of uncertainty at the moment regarding Disney and Sony and their agreement on Spider-Man in the MCU. However one thing is certain Far From Home Director Jon Watts will be back… kind of.
According to Deadline, Watts’ directing deal was for two Spider-Man films, with the third being an uncertainty. That said Feige and Marvel Studios are looking at Watts to direct a different project in the MCU.
Earlier this week the internet went ablaze, when reports confirmed that Marvel Studios and Sony had not renewed a deal together, ultimately taking Tom Holland of the MCU, with some saying it was Sony not willing to pay, and other saying Feige was far to busy to oversee a character they don’t own (Deadline is hearing that certainly isn’t true.
As of today D23 is in full swing and rumors of deal are circulating but nothing is certain at this point. It makes sense Marvel Studios would like to work with Watts, Homecoming have grossed a combined $2 billion globally at the box office.
