Angelina Jolie Has Expressed Interest In Joining the Star Wars Franchise

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil actress Angelina Jolie wants to the jump to a galaxy far, far, away.

The actress was on hand at this past weekends D23 Expo to promote the upcoming villainous sequel, as well as Marvel Studios’ Eternals. During an interview with MTV News after the panel the subject of Star Wars came up and if she has interest in joining the storied franchise.

Here is what Jolie had to say:

“Talk to J.J. [Abrams]. I cornered J.J. in the hallway. I have said to him, ‘I have no idea why I can’t be in Star Wars.”

When asked how the chat went, Jolie could only smile and say, “Pretty good. He’s so nice.” As to who she would like to play… well, even Jolie isn’t so sure about that, noting, “I haven’t gotten that far.”

Angelina Jolie and Disney have a good relationship at the moment starring in the live-action reimagining of Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent, which grossed over $750 million at the global box office, and as stated above is returning for Mistress of Evil. Jolie is also set to begin production Eternals where she will play Thena.

The actress has loads of opportunities to join a Star Wars franchise, from the Rian Johnson trilogy, to the Benioff and Weiss project, not to mention the Disney+ projects including The Mandalorian, The Cassian Andor series, and the recently announced Obi-Wan series. I’m sure the studio will easily find a place for her.
