It has been previously been revealed that Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness would be Marvel Studios first horror film, and they are bringing in a screenwriter with a horror background to write the project.
According to Collider, Marvel has tapped up-and-coming screenwriter Jade Bartlett to write. Bartlett also wrote a draft of the upcoming horror film The Turning from Universal Pictures.

Benedict Cumberbatch will return as the sorcerer supreme, along with Benedict Wong, as Wong, and Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch as her Disney+ series WandaVision is said to lead directing in to Multiverse of Madness.

Scott Derrickson will return to direct, with Marvel Studios Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige producing. Previous reports stated that the first film’s co-writer C. Robert Cargill would be returning, so it’s unclear if Bartlett will work on the story with him, or if Cargill is out entirely.
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 7, 2021.
