We still haven’t gotten a trailer for Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder, but that hasn’t stopped the leaks from pouring in.
While previous merchandise leaks gave us a vague idea of what the plot might and entail and what the main characters would look like, this latest round gives a much clearer picture. Depending on whether or not you’re a fan of the comics, that may be a good or bad thing.
The first photos from the Marvel Legends collection for the film, posted by the account @Cosmic_Marvel, not only give us the best look at Natalie Portman’s Thor so far, they also reveal Gorr the God Butcher’s design.
Unlike his comic book counterpart, this version has a nose. Not sure if that will be a major dealbreaker for some, but it is what it is. It’s also unclear if maybe he might lose in the film (that’s a sentence I’d never thought I’d write).
Interesting enough, the figures also reveal that Thor will finally shed the weight he gained after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and become a full-fledged Ravager like Star Lord. Obviously, he won’t spend the entire film as one though, since there is also a version of him revealed with brand new armor that makes him look strikingly similar to his father, Odin.
Aside from Star Lord, we also get a good luck at a slightly older Groot, who seems to have a new set of weapons too.
With the long lead press tour presently underway for the film and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness just a few weeks away, we’re sure a first trailer is imminent but, until then, at least we have these leaks right?
While plot details are currently under wraps, at the very least the film will explore the storyline from Jason Aaron‘s Thor run, in which Jane Foster proves herself worthy of wielding Mjölnir and takes up the mantle of God of Thunder.
Aside from Hemsworth, Thompson, and Taika of course, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Jamie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, Jeff Goldblum, and Russell Crowe are currently set to star in the film, with Sam Neill, Matt Damon, and Melissa McCarthy appearing in cameos.
The film was strike theaters July 8, 2022.
