It looks like the villain for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has finally been confirmed! In exclusive set photos received by the Cosmic Circus, graffiti art of what looks to be the High Evolutionary has been spotted. Not only is this confirming a long standing rumor about the upcoming film, but it is also seems to confirm a casting rumor as well. The graffiti looks like it shares the same facial features of Peacemaker star, Chukwudi Iwuji. The photos can be found at the Cosmic Circus below.
When Vol. 3 began shooting, James Gunn revealed that the actor had landed a roll that “…most every big name actor in Hollywood wanted” leading many to believe he would be playing an important roll, such as the High Evolutionary, in the film. In the comics, the High Evolutionary is a scientist who experiments on other creature’s genomes. Many believe he could be the creator of Rocket Raccoon himself, causing the tragic backstory of the beloved character.
In addition to the graffiti, other set photos have revealed strange alien characters in the film. These aliens contribute to the idea that the High Evolutionary will be appearing. His creations look to be living on a strange Earth-like planet with an interesting new language also found by the Cosmic Circus.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is rapidly approaching the end of its filming. It will conclude the current Guardians story and James Gunn’s time with the characters. The Holiday Special hits Disney+ this holiday season and Vol 3 lands in theaters May 5th, 2023.
