Marvel’s Blade Revamp Adds ‘The Wonder Years’ Star Milan Ray

Although Marvel’s Blade reboot is projected to begin production this Summer, there have been surprisingly few updates over the last few months…until now.

According to The Direct, the project has added another cast member. The Wonder Years star Milan Ray has been cast in a “key role”. At this time it’s unclear what that role is, and because this info has yet to be confirmed by Disney and Marvel, it’ll likely stay under wraps for quite some time.

Ray, who also has appeared in Amazon Prime’s hit anthology series Modern Love, joins the previously announced Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods), Aaron Pierre (Old), and the film’s titular star Mahershala Ali. The role was previously – and famously – played by Wesley Snipes in the 2000’s trilogy.

Pen15 writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour wrote the script for the project. Osei-Kuffour became the first black writer to tackle a Marvel Studios project as a writer.

The film will reportedly follow a half-human/half-vampire, “Daywalker” Eric Brooks (Ali), who has honed his abilities to hunt down the undead who have long terrorized mankind. A human-vampire hybrid since his tragic birth, Blade has spent his long life seeking to rid the world of vampires like the one that killed his mother. Over the years, he has mastered his own style of fighting monsters of all kinds.

The character made his MCU debut in a post-credit scene in 2021’s Eternals, but there are also rumors the character will appear in Marvel Studios’ Disney+ Halloween special Werewolf By Night

Blade has no official release date, though, some have speculated that an October 2023 release makes the most sense. We should hear more news on the project during Disney’s D23 Expo in September.
