While the latter won’t arrive until next year, fans were treated a screening of the very first episode of the second season. According to The Direct, the episode will be titled “What If… Captain Carter Fought The Hydra Stomper?”
As the title implies, it will star Hayley Atwell and revolve around her established variant from season one. However, the episode will also apparently involve the Scarlet Witch AND Elizabeth Olsen is confirmed to be voicing the character.

Previously the Scarlet Witch appeared as an undead antagonist in the “Marvel Zombies” episode from season one, so this is the first time the character will talk and have something more to do with the plot.
Seeing as this is the first appearance of the character since her apparent death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it will be interesting to see 1) how she meets Captain Carter 2) if there interaction here is a bit more friendly than the last time they were onscreen and 3) what potential arc the series could be setting up for her variant.
Could her variant wind up taking the place of the original Wanda on Earth 616? Sadly, we’ll have to wait until early next year to find out.
The entire first season of Marvel Studio’s first animated series What If…? is available to stream exclusively on Disney+ now.
