Maria Bakalova Will Voice Cosmo The Space Dog In ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’

Marvel’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con this year brought a slew of new announcements. One of the most unexpected? Academy Award nominee Maria Bakalova will be lending her voice to the character of Cosmo the Space Dog in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The character was previously introduced in the first film; however, up until now no one has known that it could speak.

Shortly after the panel, Bakalova spoke a little bit more about her role in the upcoming film to Variety. She called the process of putting herself in the footsteps of a dog “exciting” and said that she appreciated how much it opened up her imagination.

Bakalova joins returning cast members Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sylvester Stallone. She isn’t the only newcomer though. She joins previously announced actors Will Poulter (The Maze Runner), Chukwudi Iwuji (Peacemaker), Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad), and Nico Santos (Superstore)

While Will Poulter is confirmed to be playing Adam Warlock while Iwoji was also confirmed to be playing The High Evolutionary at the convention

The film just wrapped shooting last month, and while it’s still under a year away from a theatrical release, fans can currently see the Guardians in Thor: Love and Thunder. They’ll also star in their own Holiday Special later this, which will air exclusively on Disney+.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
