It seems another murder is on the horizon at the Arconia.
“Only Murders in the Building” has been confirmed for a fifth season, while new episodes from the fourth season are being released weekly on Hulu every Tuesday, culminating in the finale on October 29.
The fifth season will consist of 10 episodes, consistent with previous seasons.
Alongside Steve Martin’s character, Charles Hayden-Savage, Selena Gomez as Mabel Mora, and Martin Short as Oliver Putnam, the fourth season boasts an impressive lineup of guest stars. Meryl Streep returns as Loretta Durkin, introduced in season three, along with Jane Lynch reprising her role as Sazz Pataki, who is the murder victim this season. The cast also welcomes new faces such as Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, Richard Kind, Melissa McCarthy, Kumail Nanjiani, and Molly Shannon.
The third season of “Only Murders in the Building” received an impressive 21 Emmy nominations, marking a record for the series. The show has consistently garnered favorable reviews, with the latest season holding a 97 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In addition to his acting role, Martin co-created and co-writes the series with John Hoffman, both of whom also serve as executive producers alongside Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman, and Jess Rosenthal.
The storyline of season four revolves around the trio investigating the murder of Charles’ longtime friend and stunt double, Sazz, who was shot in her kitchen at the conclusion of season three. However, as the new season begins, her body is missing, along with whatever she had written on the floor in her own blood.
While a release date for the fifth season has yet to be announced, it is expected to premiere sometime next summer if the show maintains its usual schedule.
