Ming-Na Wen Hopes for a Second Season for The Book of Boba Fett

The actor behind the mask of Fennec Shand calls being in Star Wars a career highlight….

Boston, MA —The resume of Ming-Na Wen remains one of the most amazing of her generation of actors. But among her most prized achievements comes via the Star Wars galaxy. The multi-faceted entertainer, who has played a Disney princess and a Marvel S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, says that she takes her inclusion in The Saga as a career highlight.

“Star Wars has always been, like, my religion,” said Wen during her panel “The Book of Ming-Na Wen” Saturday afternoon at FAN EXPO Boston. “I am sure it is to many of you.”

Of course, applause crescendoed as Ming-Na added:

“We all believe in the Force.”

Wen certainly believes in the power of Star Wars (“It’s a geek girl’s dream come true,” she said).

Moreover, the woman who voiced the animated Mulan and portrayed the very popular Agent Melinda May on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spoke solemnly about receiving her part from Lucasfilm.

“Having that be offered to me was such a gift,” explained Wen of her becoming the feared assassin Fennec Shand. “[The call] from Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Lucasfilm — even though at that time it was only a single episode — I figured, ‘Okay, better to do one than none.’

“That will always be very high up there as one of my dream roles.”

It was the most poignant moment among so many beautiful thoughts from the beloved actor.

And throughout the discussion of her career, while wearing a Fennec Shand t-shirt, Ming-Na seemed very happy to swing the conversation back to her memorable role in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

Meanwhile, beyond the praise for Favreau and Filoni, the actor gushed over her collaboration with Temuera Morrison, who plays the titular anti-hero in The Book of Boba Fett (after guest starring in The Mandalorian).

“Oh my God!” exclaimed Wen. “I miss [Morrison] so much.

“I love Tem,” she continued. “He is truly the coolest guy in the world.

“He’s just the biggest heart. He is such a sweetheart. Funny.

“I love Tem,” repeated Ming-Na. “I cannot say enough wonderful things about Tem.”

But one item that the Disney Legend stepped carefully around was the possibility of a second go around Tatooine with Temuera.

Asked about upcoming projects, Wen teased, “The second season of The Book of Boba Fett – I hope!

“I never count my chickens before they hatch,” she added. “In this business, you just never know.

“Knock on wood; they’ll be announcing that soon.”
