‘Marvel Zombies’ To Be The Shortest Disney+ Series To Date

Marvel’s What If…? may not have been the best Disney+ series to date, but on top of introducing a bunch of new characters and potential repercussions for the future of the MCU, it also answered the age-old question of what a mainstream Marvel Zombies storyline could look like. The arc may have only lasted for one episode, but it warranted such a massive response that the studio announced that a full blown series was developed to expand on the story.

While quite a few details were already revealed at San Diego Comic-Con this year, we may have just gotten another massive bit of news about the series.

In an exclusive interview with Comicbook.com last weekend at New York Comic-Con, Zeb Wells – who is serving as the upcoming show’s executive producer – casually confirmed its episode count. And it’s quite surprising.

Unlike the upcoming Daredevil reboot, which will consist of 18 episodes or the actual What If…? series, which is tied with She-Hulk for the most episodes in a Marvel/Disney+ series so far, Marvel Zombies will reportedly consist of a measly FOUR episodes.

In the interview, Well urged fans not to worry though. He said, “So it’s four episodes, but it’s looking really cool.”

Sadly, he didn’t divulge how long any of the episodes will be. So while it’s likely they’ll range from 30-40 minutes – like all the other Marvel shows, there’s also a chance these episodes could bleed into the 60 minute range. At least, that’s what we’re optimistic about.

Regardless of how long it runs, let’s hope it’s not another one-off like that What If…? episode, and that it’s just the beginning of something great.

The animated series will be the first TV-MA Disney+ Original and it will debut in 2024, the same year as Spider-Man: Freshman Year.
