It’s been nearly two years since we got any concrete news on Marvel’s planned Nova project. That changed today when an industry insider casually revealed some news about the show’s production on Twitter (X).
In a seemingly random post, Jeff Sneider revealed that Marvel has finally found a showrunner for the series.
“EXCLUSIVE: Ed Bernero to showrun NOVA for Marvel,” he wrote.

Now, it’s unclear what prompted this post. Especially because, as previously mentioned, the project has seemingly fallen off everyone else’s radar. But perhaps he was trying to beat a major trade to the news? He did something similar last week when he revealed Jeremy Allen White’s casting in The Mandalorian in Grogu during an impromptu web interview.
That being said, we want to urge readers that because this bit of info has yet to be confirmed it should be taken with a grain of salt. However, given Sneider’s accuracy in the past, there is a possibility it might be true.

But who is Ed Bernero? For those who may not know, he is one of the minds behind the popular serial procedural drama Criminal Minds, as well as its spin-off. If his attachment to the project is any indication of what Marvel is going for with the series, then perhaps we should expect it to be a cosmic mystery? That is, after all, what Max is cooking up with its Green Lantern series in development.
But only time will tell.
For those unfamiliar with the character, Nova, a.k.a Richard Rider became Nova after the last surviving member of Corps, Rhomann Dey, crash-landed on Earth and bestowed his powers and duty upon him. Dey, as fans might recall, is the name of the Nova officer played by John C. Reilly in Guardians of the Galaxy. With Xandar destroyed during the events of Avengers: Infinity War, we may see an injured Dey travel to Earth to find a replacement.
