It’s been rumored that Marvel has been secretly working on a Young Avengers series at Disney+ for quite some time. But now we actually seem to have a pretty promising update.
According to, Nexus Point News reported the project has tapped Rachna Fruchbom as the writer, executive producer and showrunner. Her previous credits include NBC’s Parks and Recreation and Apple TV’s Shrinking.
So far, the show is being called Champions; though there is a possibility that could just be a working title. In the comics, the Champions are a totally different team from the Young Avengers. It is possible that the live-action iteration could merge the two teams.

The Young Avengers includes: Billy Maximoff/William Kaplan aka Wiccan, Kate Bishop/Hawkeye, Tommy Shepherd – Maximoff/Speed, Eli Bradley/Patriot , America Chavez, Kid Loki and Cassie Lang/Stature.
The only character who hasn’t made an appearance in the MCU yet is Theodore ‘Teddy’ Altman aka Hulkling, Wiccan’s boyfriend and now husband in the comics and Iron Lad.
Champion members includes Kamala Khan and Riri Williams/Ironheart (who’s miniseries comes out in June) who made their team debut in the comics 2016 created by Mark Waid and Humberto Ramos.
Members of the Champions team who haven’t appeared in the MCU but are in the roster are Miles Morales, Nova, Amadeus Cho, and Vision’s daughter Viv.
The Young Avengers made their debut in the Marvel Comics in 2005 created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Chueng and made their return in 2012 with new members that included America Chavez, Kid Loki, Marvel Boy.
Now, a series or a movie following the teenage superhero characters has been rumored for a very long time. At one point, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man was rumored to be the leader of the group. However, after The Marvels (and recent leaks), it appears that Kamala Khan will be the group’s de facto leader.
In one of the film’s final scenes, Kamala recruited Kate Bishop to form their own group of superheroes Nick Fury style with how he recruited Tony Stark to form the Avengers in a post credit scene on Iron Man.
We’ve already met other members of the group in different MCU films and shows as a supporting or lead character in those respected projects.
Keep in mind that neither Marvel or any of the major trades have confirmed this info. Until then, we urge you to take this as a rumor for a grain of salt.
