It’s no secret that Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror is the biggest threat to emerge from Phase Four of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. Even after dying at the hands of Sylvie in the season finale of Loki, it was established in a major cliffhanger that more powerful and dangerous variants exist throughout the multiverse. In fact, one of those variants is set to appear as the main antagonist in the highly anticipated threequel Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Now, a new tweet from industry insider Daniel Richtman alleges that regardless of what happens in Quantumania, that will not be the last time we see Kang.
Responding to a fan who expressed his disappointment with the character being the big bad in the next Ant-Man film, Richtman explained that it’s all a part of Marvel’s plan. It’s not that the character won’t die, but rather because of the character’s ability traverse space and time the studio can keep reintroducing him. They’ll presumably continue to do so to continue to build up to that Secret Wars project strongly speculated to be in development.

For those unfamiliar with the character, his true identity in the comics is Nathaniel Richards, a 31st-century scientist who descends from the Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards. Similarly arrogant to his ancestor, Richards discovers the secrets of space and time travel and subsequently abuses it to conquer both different worlds and timelines. He’s gone by various names in the past, and so far he’s only known as “He Who Remains” in the MCU.
Now, it’s unclear if we’ll see the character in anything else before we see him again in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but Richtman’s use of the word “projects” (plural) has definitely worth paying attention to.
Whether or not the version of the character we meet in Quantumania will be a variant or the actual version we’ve already met still remains to be seen. And until we see Kang again in any other project, we urge you all to take this information with a grain of salt.

Having previously directed the first two installments, now that Quantumania has wrapped filming, Peyton Reed is the second director to complete a trilogy set within the MCU after Jon Watts.
In the film, Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly will reprise their roles as the titular duo. Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer will also return as Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, the characters who donned the outfits and alter egos first.
New to the cast is Kathryn Newton. She’ll be replacing Emma Fuhrmann as Cassie Lang in the films going forward. Fuhrmann portrayed the character in Avengers: Endgame.
Bill Murray is also set to appear in an undisclosed role, while there are rumors that Yellowjacket could reappear too.
After recently switching release dates with The Marvels, the film will now hit theaters on February 17, 2023.
